This unique collaboration between the Peake Childhood Center, Virginia Peninsula Community College, the City of Newport News and regional businesses will become a state and national model for early childhood care and education.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
The facility serves approximately 200 children ages 6 months to 5 years old.
In addition to providing affordable childcare solutions to the community, the center will offer students from Virginia Peninsula Community College’s Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Learning and Development a state-of-the-art environment for training.
The building’s mechanical system consists of highly efficient water source heat pumps served by geothermal walls.
Designed to achieve a LEED for v4.0 ‘Certified’ rating.
