Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
Construction Administration
- Represent Thompson Consulting Engineers throughout the construction phase as the primary liaison between owners, architects, contractors, and the design team.
- Monitor construction progress to verify compliance with contract documents and project specifications.
- Conduct site visits, above-ceiling inspections, final walkthroughs, punch list inspections, and project closeout activities.
- Document field observations and communicate findings through detailed site visit reports.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with design engineers to review shop drawings, RFIs, and change order requests.
- Assist in resolving construction and design-related issues encountered in the field.
- Facilitate or participate in Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings.
- Prepare meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
Project Closeout
- Coordinate project closeout activities, including Operations & Maintenance manuals, TAB reports, commissioning documentation, and final pay application reviews.
- Verify completion of punch list items and back-check completed work.
- Support successful project turnover to owners and project stakeholders.
Client Service
- Build strong working relationships with owners, architects, contractors, and internal project teams.
- Communicate professionally and effectively throughout every phase of construction.
- Represent Thompson Consulting Engineers with integrity, responsiveness, and technical expertise.
- Support engineers with field investigations and constructability reviews as needed.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Ten or more years of experience in mechanical and/or plumbing construction.
- Five or more years of experience with commercial or institutional new construction and renovation projects.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, building systems, and construction administration processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with owners, architects, contractors, and project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman or Master trades license in a mechanical or plumbing discipline.
- Experience performing construction administration for consulting engineering projects.
- Experience conducting field inspections, punch list reviews, and project closeout activities.
- Experience assisting engineers with constructability reviews and field investigations.
