As our Information Technology Manager, you will own the systems, infrastructure, and support that keep our engineers and staff productive every day—from the workstations running our design software, to the networks connecting our three Virginia offices, to the cybersecurity that protects our clients’ data. You will partner directly with firm leadership in a collaborative environment where problem-solving, service, and long-term growth are part of the day-to-day work.

Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
Infrastructure & Systems Administration
- Manage and maintain the firm’s networks, workstations, and cloud environment across all three offices.
- Administer Microsoft 365, user accounts, cloud file storage, and access permissions.
- Oversee data cloud backup, and disaster-recovery systems that protect the firm’s work.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues before they affect productivity.
Cybersecurity & Data Protection
- Lead the firm’s cybersecurity program, including threat prevention, monitoring, and response.
- Implement and maintain security policies, endpoint protection, and multi-factor authentication.
- Manage email security, phishing awareness, and ongoing employee security training.
- Safeguard sensitive client and project data and support compliance with client security requirements.
End-User Support & Help Desk
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day IT support across the firm.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and access issues promptly and professionally.
- Set up and configure workstations, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals for new and existing staff.
- Provide clear, patient support to users of all technical comfort levels.
Engineering & Business Application Support
- Support and maintain engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and energy-modeling tools.
- Administer business systems, including the firm’s project-accounting / ERP platform (e.g., Deltek).
- Manage software licensing, updates, and vendor relationships for firm applications.
- Ensure workstations meet the performance demands of CAD, BIM, and modeling work.
IT Strategy, Budgeting & Vendor Management
- Develop and manage the IT budget, technology roadmap, and hardware/software lifecycle planning.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies that improve productivity and security.
- Manage relationships with internet providers, managed-service providers, and technology vendors.
- Partner with firm leadership to align IT investments with business goals.
Business Continuity & Multi-Office Operations
- Maintain reliable connectivity and consistent IT service across all three Virginia offices.
- Develop, document, and test business-continuity and disaster-recovery plans.
- Support secure remote and hybrid work for staff in the field and at home.
- Document IT systems, procedures, and configurations for consistency and continuity.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of progressive IT experience, including systems administration and end-user support.
- Hands-on experience managing networks, Microsoft 365, and cybersecurity tools.
- Strong working knowledge of IT security best practices and data protection.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Strong organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities across a multi-office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+), Microsoft, Cisco, or ITIL.
- Experience supporting engineering, architecture, or design software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM).
- Experience administering Deltek or a similar project-accounting / ERP system.
- Experience supporting multiple offices or a hybrid workforce.
- A proactive, service-oriented approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
